In the midst of a recession and with loads of empty hotel rooms, South Carolina’s vacation hot spot is hanging a “No Vacancy” sign for hundreds of thousands of motorcycle riders who have come here each May.

Harley-Davidson Inc. said Thursday it expects to cut up to 400 more jobs as it reported its first-quarter profit tumbled 37 percent due to a sluggish motorcycle market.

BBB May Not Have Headliner Concert

There may not be a headliner concert at Bikes, Blues & BBQ this year, organizers say.
The ZZ Top concert in 2007 was a money-maker, but ticket sales for The Allman Brothers last year didn’t meet expectations, said Bob Corscadden, a festival spokesman.
